On the eve of Comic-Con International, Lucasfilm and Disney Interactive have launchedthe “Star Wars” app you were looking for.
Available now for Apple iOS and Google Android devices, the app features instant notifications about breaking “Star Wars” news, aggregated content from official social sources, themed weather forecasts, classic sound clips and sound effects, behind-the-scenes facts, videos, an interactive lightsaber-training activity, and of course a clock ticking down to the premiere of “The Force Awakens.”
There are also a special augmented-reality feature that allows users to unlock 3D characters from the upcoming film.
“Star Wars” will have a major presence at Comic-Con on Friday with programming that covers everything from collectibles to publishing to, naturally, movies. However, the Hall H presentation apparently won’t include any new footage from “The Force Awakens.”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens Dec. 18.
