Rebel Reviews: Spark of Rebellion

Who are these guys?

The first few minutes of Spark of Rebellion made their way across the Internet some time back. They promised the adventures of a rag-tag dream team for anyone worried that the EU would be forgotten. There was the gun-slinging smuggler, the Twi’lek female pilot, the Mando with awesome armor, and the beast straight out of a McQuarrie painting. There was much nostalgia to be had from the very beginning, with a not-so-subtle shot of a Star Destroyer looming over all. There were some potentially worrying moments as well. Who is this kid who seems to have budding Force potential? Who are these Rebels who are flying speeder bikes all over the place? Why is everyone asking who everyone else is?

Well, as it turns out, they’re a wonderful collection of characters that I look foreword to getting to know.

“Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me”

So here’s the rundown of the full premiere: (spoiler free! Fat free too. Only 10 calories.)

Young Ezra is a kid on his own. One day while walking through town he sees a band of ruffians stealing from the Empire, so he decides to steal from the thieves! Of course, these ruffians don’t like that – and neither do the Imperials. After a chase through the city Ezra ends up aboard thieves’ ship only to discover they aren’t thieves at all. They are members of a slowly forming Rebellion Against the Empire. Ezra joins them on an hour-long adventure that involves the Imperial Security Bureau, Wookiees, and the Spice Mines of Kessel! Will Ezra join in the Rebels’ fight? Or, in Kanan’s words, is he just a “street-rat”?
