Academy Award nominee, Ludwig Göransson has been announced as the composer for The Mandalorian. He is best known for his work on Black Panther, Venom Creed, and most recently Creed II.
According to StarWars.com, Ludwig Göransson has been chosen to compose the score for John Favreau’s live-action series. The announcement included a statement from Göransson thanking Lucasfilm and expressing his excitement:
“Words fail to express how surreal and humbling it feels to be invited into the Star Wars universe. I am deeply grateful to Jon Favreau and Disney for this opportunity and to John Williams for raising the bar so high with his iconic, intrepid scores — they will never be matched. In these next months I hope to honor the tradition of Star Wars’ musical landscape while propelling The Mandalorian into new and unchartered territory. And I will try to remember that there is no try.”
Göransson will not only work with the showrunner, Favreau but also the show’s five directors (Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow, and Taika Waititi). The collaborators will seek to build on the well-established music of the Star Wars Galaxy and take it to new heights.
The Mandalorian is currently filming in Los Angeles and will be exclusively release on the Disney+ streaming service. The service will arrive in late 2019, with The Mandalorian expected to debut around the same time. Other Star Wars content being developed for the service includes the final season of The Clone Wars and a Cassian Andor Rogue One prequel series.
