Heroic Hollywood reports out of Comic-Con International in San Diego that “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow has secured the helm of “Star Wars: Episode IX.” The official announcement is expected to be made today at the “Star Wars” SDCC panel in Hall H, an event that had fans of the films lining up more than 24 hours in advance for tickets. If this proves true, that means Trevorrow will be completing the trilogy following J.J. Abrams’ “Episode VII” and Rian Johnson’s “Episode VIII.”
Trevorrow has had a meteoric rise in Hollywood, leaping from the modest success of the indie sci-fi rom-com “Safety Not Guaranteed” to the resurrection of the “Jurassic Park” with “Jurassic World.” And now “Star Wars”? This could make or break his budding career.
