Galaxy’s Edge Publishing List

StarWars.com has just announced multiple new books and comics that will set up the new Disney Parks attraction, Galaxy’s Edge. Batuu and Black Spire Outpost has popped up here there in Star Wars content over the last year, but it looks that will be escalating as Lucasfilm prepares fans to visit deep space outpost later this year.

We previously talked about the new Marvel series focusing on antique dealer Dok-Andor at Black Spire Outpost and the rise of the First Order near the edge of Wild Space. This series is written by Ethan Sacks with art by Will Sliney and will debut April 24.

A newly announced title, Black Spire will be written by veteran Star Wars author, Delilah S. Dawson and released on September 3. She’s previously written Phasma, Perfect Weapon, and multiple comics. The book will focus on Resistance spies searching for allies on Batuu and is being called a ‘prequel to the Disney Parks experience’. I’m curious how it will tie into Episode IX.

StarWars.com:

…General Leia Organa dispatches her top spy to Batuu in a desperate search for Resistance allies.

The small glimpse of Batuu that we get in Lou Anders’ Pirate’s Price hints that the Resistance is recruiting people to their cause on Batuu. And a big question is the exact timeline of this book and how it fits into the sequel trilogy. Regardless, fans should be excited to learn more about this planet we all will visit soon.

The next book revealed is a YA novel written by Zoraida Córdova. She’s the author of The Vicious Deep trilogy previously penned a short Star Wars story in A Certain Point of View. A Crash of Fate is due out August 6.

Izzy and Jules were best friends until Izzy’s family abruptly left Batuu when she was six. Now she’s back, and Jules, the boy who never left, is unsure what to make of her. While on the run from vengeful smugglers and an angry pirate, the two friends will come to terms with who they are, and what they mean to each other.

Star Wars: Myths & Fables is written by George Mann and illustrationed by Grant Griffin. The middle grade novel will cover fables and myths of Star Wars universe. The cover art gives off a fantasy vibe and knowing Batuu sits as the last stop in Wild Space before the Unknown Regions, I expect these stories to be very exciting.

Synopsis:

… hear the thrilling space tales, fables, and myths that are told in a galaxy far, far away. The book features two stories that take place on the remote Outer Rim world of Batuu, plus many other untold tales from the edge of the galaxy, lushly illustrated in a style that pays homage to real-world children’s classics.

There’s also an excerpt from one of the stories titled The Knight and the Dragon on StarWars.com available right now. Other noteworthy announcements on the site are multiple IDW comic series and a Galaxy’s Edge cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel. She’s written cookbooks for other large franchises such as Game of Thrones and World of Warcraft.

2019 is ramping up to be quite a year for Star Wars and more announcements are sure to happen at Celebration in Chicago (I can’t wait!!!). All of these titles seem promising and it certainly is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.
