Marvel has revealed that everyone’s favorite scoundrel/Cloud City administrator Lando Calrissian will be starring in his own comic book later this year. Writer Charles Soule (death of Wolverine) and artist Alex Maleev (Daredevil) are teaming up for a five-issue mini-series simply titled Lando. But really, what more needs to be said?
This series (which was revealed by StarWars.com) will take place before Lando’s debut in The Empire Strikes Back and explore the character’s more roguish days. Accompanied by his faithful cybernetic assistant Lobot, Lando will embark on a quest to steal a highly coveted starship (perhaps the Millennium Falcon?).
“Is Lando Calrissian the coolest character in all of Star Wars? Depends on who you ask, probably. But if you ask me, the answer is yes, and I plan to prove it with this story,” Soule told the site. “Before Cloud City, before his glorious Death Star run, Lando Calrissian was just a man trying to make his way through an uncaring universe determined not to recognize that he was undeniably the coolest man in the galaxy. But Lando’s got a plan to change all that… and it starts with the deal of a lifetime.”
Lando is now the sixth Star Wars comic to be revealed since Marvel took over the license this year, and the second mini-series after Mark Waid and Terry Dodson’s Princess Leia. Marvel also recently announced the post-Return of the Jedi comic Star Wars: Shattered Empire (which we’re hoping to learn more about at Star Wars Celebration VI this week.)
